About Spiaggia Casello 41

Casello 41 is a stretch of wild sandy shore inside the Riserva Naturale Foce del Fiume Belice, on the south-west coast of Sicily between Marinella di Selinunte (Castelvetrano) and Porto Palo di Menfi. The reserve protects the mouth of the Belice river and a belt of high, vegetated dunes, and the beach is broad, sandy and backed by those dunes, with a generally calm sea. Nudity here is tolerated rather than authorised: the Sicilian regional tourism department names Casello 41 in its guide to naturism in Sicily and recommends it especially outside high summer, and naturist directories list it as a free beach where naturists are a regular presence. There are no services. The setting is quiet and spacious. Reserve rules apply: no drones, no walking on the living dunes and no litter left behind.

Getting there

From the SS115 between Castelvetrano and Menfi, follow signs towards the Foce del Belice reserve; the last stretch is an unpaved track ending at informal parking near the dunes. Check the track after rain. From there, marked paths cross the dunes to the beach; allow 15 to 20 minutes on foot to reach quieter stretches. The route is sandy and unsuitable for wheelchairs. The nearest shops and bars are in Marinella di Selinunte and Porto Palo.

What visitors say

Guides describe Casello 41 as a wide, wild dune beach with plenty of space and privacy, at its best in spring and autumn when it is very quiet. Visitors note the lack of any services or bins, so bring water and take rubbish away. The unpaved access track can be rough.

Legal context

Casello 41 is not an authorised naturist beach under Sicily's regional law; nudity is tolerated by custom (checked 2026). The beach lies in the Foce del Belice nature reserve, which bans drones and walking on the dunes. Italy has no national naturism law; nudity where naturism is customary has generally not been treated by the courts as an offence against public decency, but elsewhere it can draw an administrative fine under art. 726 of the Penal Code.

Naturism at Spiaggia Casello 41 sits under Italy's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
