About Scogliera del Sentiero
Scogliera del Sentiero is the rocky headland that separates the coves of Barabarca and Zuccale on the south-east coast of Elba, near Capoliveri. It is reached by the footpath that leads from the shared Barabarca-Zuccale car park: the left branch goes down to Barabarca, a small white-sand cove reached by a dirt path and a stairway, and a branch bearing slightly right leads out onto the cliff between the two beaches. The Tuscan tourism board includes Barabarca and this flat cliff in its guide to naturist beaches in Tuscany, describing it as a place for lovers of flat rocks. People sunbathe on the rock shelves and swim from them in clear water. There are no services on the rocks; Zuccale has more facilities.
Getting there
From Capoliveri follow signs for Barabarca and Zuccale to the beach car park. Take the path: the left fork goes to Barabarca, the right to Zuccale; where the Barabarca path splits, the branch bearing slightly right leads to the cliff between the two coves. The final descent is steep and rocky; wear good shoes.
