About Santa Clara Island
Santa Clara is the small wooded island in the middle of La Concha bay in San Sebastián, a few hundred metres off Ondarreta beach. Its small beach faces the city, and paths lead up through the island. A guide to Gipuzkoa's nudist beaches published by eldiario.es says nude bathing is accepted on the island's beach, while it is not on La Concha itself; the city's official tourism pages describe the island without mentioning nudism. In practice it is a mixed spot visited by summer boat passengers and swimmers, so nude bathers should keep to themselves and expect clothed company.
Getting there
In summer, boats run to the island from the old port of San Sebastián. Strong swimmers cross the roughly 500 m from Ondarreta, though boat traffic makes this risky in high season. Out of season there is no regular boat. There is no wheelchair access on the island.

Legal context
Spanish law does not make simple nudity an offence (public-scandal offences were removed in 1988), so nude bathing is not illegal on Spanish beaches unless a municipal bylaw restricts it. A press guide reports that nudity is accepted on the Santa Clara island beach but not on La Concha; no municipal designation was found (2026).
Naturism at Santa Clara Island sits under Spain's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.
