About Praia Olho de Boi
Olho de Boi is a tiny hidden cove on the Búzios peninsula in Rio de Janeiro state, tucked between two rock walls just beyond Praia Brava and inside the Costa do Sol State Park. Its narrow strip of sand faces calm, very clear water that is good for swimming, and the native coastal scrub around it keeps it out of sight. It is one of the eight beaches listed in the Brazilian press as recognised naturist beaches, and the house rule is nudity on the sand and in the water, with clothing tolerated on the rocks and along the trail; even the drinks vendors work nude. There are no kiosks or restaurants. The crowd is small and mostly men and couples; lone women are rarely seen. The trail descends from a viewpoint above the cove, so you can see how busy it is before going down. In August 2026 a wildfire burned part of the access trail area.
Getting there
Drive or take a taxi to Praia Brava in Búzios. The only land access is a trail starting at the right-hand (northern) end of Brava; it takes about 20-40 minutes depending on pace, is steep and rocky in places, and comes out at a viewpoint before dropping to the sand. Wear proper shoes and carry water. Check for closures after the 2026 fire. Not accessible for reduced mobility.
What visitors say
Visitors love the clear, calm water and the sense of seclusion, and say the trail is worth the effort. The beach is small, and guides note a mostly male crowd with couples; unaccompanied women are rare. Bring water and snacks; vendors are occasional.

Legal context
Olho de Boi is widely reported as one of Brazil's eight FBrN-recognised naturist beaches, but no municipal law was found and some guides note there is no official regulation; nudity is enforced by custom on the sand and in the water. The cove lies in the Costa do Sol State Park (created 2011), whose rules apply (checked 2026).
Naturism at Praia Olho de Boi sits under Brazil's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
