About Praia de Caolín
Caolín is a small, hidden beach on the right-hand (eastern) shore of the O Vicedo estuary in Lugo province, on Galicia's northern Mariña coast, next to Vidreiro beach. It takes its name from an old ceramics factory that once worked the kaolin clay here. The beach is about 130 m of very fine white sand with trees growing right down to its edge, so it is often compared to a Caribbean cove, and the water is calm and sheltered inside the estuary. Occupancy is generally low, and there is a shower but no lifeguard. The Spanish Naturist Federation lists Caolín as a nudist-tradition beach and notes that Galicia's official tourism site also refers to its nudist tradition, while acknowledging that on some summer weekends there are more clothed than nude bathers and that some private sites deny the tradition. Expect a mixed crowd.
Getting there
From the fishing port of O Vicedo, take the narrow road uphill for about 1 km and park on the verge where the tarmac ends. From there, a path leads down to the beach, or a little further on there are steps. The descent is short but uneven; not suitable for wheelchairs.
