About Playa Sotogrande
Sotogrande beach runs along the seafront of the Sotogrande estate in San Roque, at the eastern edge of Cádiz province, west of the mouth of the Guadiaro river. The Spanish Naturist Federation lists it as a beach with nudist tradition and gives it as about 2.25 km of darker sand, 35 m wide, with moderate surf, lifeguards and showers, and heavy use in summer. The surroundings are semi-urban, with villas and the marina nearby, and the river mouth beside it is a protected wetland. Beyond the federation's listing we found no description of nude use here, so expect a mainly clothed beach and keep to quieter stretches away from the estate frontage. Note: the Spanish Naturist Federation is the only source we found that reports nude bathing here, and other guides do not mention it. Nude use may be occasional or limited to the quieter end, so expect most visitors to be clothed and check on arrival.
Getting there
Sotogrande is reached from the A-7/AP-7 between Estepona and Algeciras; follow signs for Sotogrande and the beach. There is parking near the beach, and buses on the coast road stop at Sotogrande and Torreguadiaro.

Legal context
Spanish law does not make simple nudity an offence (public-scandal offences were removed in 1988), so nude bathing is not illegal on Spanish beaches unless a municipal bylaw restricts it. No San Roque bylaw on nudity at Sotogrande was found; the beach is not designated and nude use is recorded only by FEN (2026).
Naturism at Playa Sotogrande sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.

Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.
