About Playa San Martín
San Martín is a beach at the eastern edge of Celorio in Llanes, eastern Asturias, inside the protected landscape of the eastern Asturian coast. At low tide it joins neighbouring Portiello beach and connects with the island of Poo, forming a single sweep of about 750 metres; the Spanish Naturist Federation recommends visiting then, when the setting is at its most striking. The sand is white, scattered with huge boulders between high rock walls, and at low water fresh groundwater bubbles up through the sand. The beach lies on the coastal route of the Camino de Santiago. Because it can only be reached on foot, it is less crowded than the beaches in Celorio and Llanes, and the federation lists it as a beach of nudist tradition. It is also a surf spot. Lifeguards cover it in summer, but there are no showers.
Getting there
Walk east from Celorio along the coastal path, which leads straight to the beach, or come from Poo; a campsite in Poo has its own path to the coast. There is no parking at the beach, so leave the car in Celorio. Time your visit for low tide, when the beach is widest. Not wheelchair accessible.
