About Playa Nudista Ondarroa
Saturraran is a beach of sand and stones at the western end of the Gipuzkoa coast, in Mutriku, right on the border with Ondarroa in Bizkaia. It is about 300 m long and unusually wide at roughly 90 m, set between the mouth of the Mijoa stream and Saturraran point, and two large rock stacks stand on the sand; local legend makes them a pair of lovers named Satur and Aran. Waves break with real force and it is often windy, so it is popular with bodyboarders. The Basque tourism board lists a nudist area among the beach's services, which makes Saturraran one of the few Basque beaches where nude use is acknowledged officially; the Spanish Naturist Federation also lists it. The rest of the beach is used by clothed families from the surrounding towns, so expect a mixed crowd. Services are good for a Basque beach: lifeguards, toilets, showers and changing rooms, a picnic area and a large car park, with a campsite nearby.
Getting there
Saturraran lies on the coast road between Mutriku and Ondarroa, with a large car park beside the beach. A coastal promenade links it with Ondarroa, so it can be reached on foot from there; regional buses run along the coast road. Access from the car park to the sand is short.
Amenities
Legal context
Spanish law does not make simple nudity an offence (public-scandal offences were removed in 1988), so nude bathing is not illegal on Spanish beaches unless a municipal bylaw restricts it. The Basque Government tourism listing for Saturraran includes a nudist zone among the beach services (checked 2026); no restricting bylaw was found.
Naturism at Playa Nudista Ondarroa sits under Spain's rules for officially designated nude beaches — explicit protection inside the marked area.

Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.
