About Playa Marfolín
Marfolín is a long, open beach on the north-west coast of Fuerteventura near the fishing village of El Cotillo, in the municipality of La Oliva. It runs for roughly 950 m with a width of around 30 m, golden sand backed by low dunes and volcanic rock, and it faces the open Atlantic, so the surf and wind are usually strong and swimming needs care. The setting is semi-developed, with El Cotillo nearby, but occupancy is low and there is plenty of space to spread out. The Spanish Naturist Federation lists Marfolín as a nudist-tradition beach, and other beach guides also class it as nudist; in practice nude bathers share the sand with surfers and walkers, as on much of Fuerteventura's coast. There is no lifeguard or shower according to FEN, although one guide mentions toilets nearby. Bring a windbreak, as the wind rarely drops on this side of the island.
Getting there
Marfolín is reached from El Cotillo by car or on foot, with informal parking near the dunes. Local bus lines 7 and 8 serve the El Cotillo area. The final approach is over sand and is not wheelchair-friendly.
