About Playa Mangueta
Mangueta is an undeveloped beach on the Costa de la Luz in the municipality of Vejer de la Frontera, between El Palmar and Los Caños de Meca, on the wildest part of Vejer's shoreline. It runs for about 900 metres, golden sand backed by low dunes and scrub, facing the Atlantic with moderate waves and frequent wind. The Spanish Naturist Federation lists it as a beach of nudist tradition; directories describe it as partly or wholly nudist, so expect a mix of nude and clothed visitors. There are no buildings and no infrastructure on the sand beyond litter bins and cleaning, and no lifeguards or showers. Local campaigners have raised concern about commercial pressure, including a beach-bar concession that they say has brought loud parties, and have asked for the area to be protected.
Getting there
Leave the A-48 at the turning towards the coast between El Palmar and Los Caños de Meca and follow local roads; signs are poor. There is unguarded parking for roughly 50-100 cars near the beach. There is no direct bus, so a car is essentially necessary. The final approach is over sand and not wheelchair accessible.
