About Playa la Maretas
La Mareta is a small, quiet cove on Tenerife's south-east coast in the municipality of Granadilla de Abona, a short distance from the windsurfing resort of El Médano. It is about 120 m long, a mix of gravel and dark sand, and its water is usually calm because the cove is sheltered from the prevailing wind that makes El Médano famous. The surroundings are a protected natural area of volcanic scrub, and there are no services at all: no lifeguard, showers, toilets or kiosk. Few people come, which is why the Spanish Naturist Federation lists it among its nudist-tradition beaches. Other guides do not describe it as nudist, so expect a mixed or simply empty cove rather than a naturist scene; the busier nude beaches in this area are La Tejita and the coves at the foot of Montaña Roja and Montaña Pelada. Note: the Spanish Naturist Federation is the only source we found that reports nude bathing here, and other guides do not mention it. Nude use may be occasional or limited to the quieter end, so expect most visitors to be clothed and check on arrival.
Getting there
La Mareta lies on the coast near El Médano and can be reached on foot along coastal paths or by car with roadside parking nearby. TITSA bus 470 serves the area. The final approach is over uneven ground, and there is no step-free access.
