About Playa Es Canar
Es Canar (Es Caná) is a resort beach on Ibiza's east coast in the municipality of Santa Eulària des Riu, about 5 km north-east of Santa Eulària town. The main beach is a sheltered bay of roughly 350 m of golden sand with calm, shallow water, lined with hotels, restaurants and sunbed rental, and it holds a Blue Flag; on Wednesdays the nearby Punta Arabí hippy market draws big crowds. The Spanish Naturist Federation lists Es Canar as a nudist-tradition beach, and a Spanish naturist guide calls it one of the island's naturist centres, but it treats the main bay as the hub of a chain of small rocky coves on either side, such as Ses Pedrises and Cala Nova, where nudity is common. On the main beach itself, most visitors are clothed families. Anyone looking to bathe nude should head to the coves at the edges of the bay. Note: the Spanish Naturist Federation is the only source we found that reports nude bathing here, and other guides do not mention it. Nude use may be occasional or limited to the quieter end, so expect most visitors to be clothed and check on arrival.
Getting there
Es Canar is reached by road from Santa Eulària or Ibiza town, with regular buses in season and a summer boat service from Santa Eulària. There is parking around the resort, which fills on market days. The main beach has easy, level access from the promenade; the side coves are reached by short coastal paths over rock.

Legal context
Nudity is not prohibited on Spanish beaches, but Es Canar's main bay is a family resort beach with no nudist designation. Nude use is customary in the small coves around it (2026).
Naturism at Playa Es Canar sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
Full country law: Spain public nudity guide.
Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.
