About Playa Els Tossals
Els Tossals (Los Tusales in Spanish) is a natural beach in Guardamar del Segura, in the south of Alicante province, just next to the mouth of the river Segura. Behind it lie the Guardamar dunes and their planted pine woods, and a wooden boardwalk crosses the dune ridge to the sand. The beach is long and golden, well over a kilometre by most counts, with moderate waves and low occupancy. The Valencian regional tourism board describes it as suitable for naturism and lists a naturist area among its services, and the Spanish Naturist Federation lists it as a nudist beach. The river outflow can make the water less clear than at nearby beaches, which is why many bathers prefer El Rebollo further along; that also keeps Els Tossals quiet. There are no lifeguards, showers or kiosks, so bring food and water.
Getting there
Drive towards the beach from the Guardamar side of the river; regional tourism lists a car park, though spaces are limited in summer. From there it is a 10-15 minute walk through the pine wood and over the dunes on a wooden boardwalk, with few signs on the way. There are no facilities at the beach. The sandy approach makes wheelchair access difficult beyond the boardwalk.
What visitors say
Visitors describe Els Tossals as a quiet, natural beach with plenty of space and a mostly naturist crowd. The walk through the pines and dunes is part of the appeal. Common tips: bring your own food and drink, as there is nothing to buy, and expect a short walk from the car. Some note that water near the river mouth is less clear.
