About Playa El Islote
El Islote is a small sandy beach on the north-west coast of Fuerteventura in the municipality of La Oliva, roughly 2 km from the village of El Cotillo, in the area of shallow lagoons and low dunes north of the village. The InSpain beach guide puts it at around 75 m long, with sand set among dunes, low numbers of visitors and an isolated setting, and lists it as a nudist beach. The water is usually calm but the spot is exposed to the trade winds. There are no facilities on the beach. Several other small coves along this stretch of coast are also used for nude sunbathing, including Playa de El Río, which the Spanish Naturist Federation lists nearby.
Getting there
Drive or walk north from El Cotillo along the coast road towards the lighthouse and the lagoon beaches; the guide describes the beach as reachable by car or on foot. There are informal parking spots along the track. There is no lifeguard, shade or drinking water, so bring supplies.
Legal context
Spanish law does not make simple nudity an offence (public-scandal offences were removed in 1988), so nude bathing is not illegal on Spanish beaches unless a municipal bylaw restricts it. No La Oliva bylaw or signage concerning nudity at El Islote was found (2026); the beach has no official naturist designation.
Naturism at Playa El Islote sits under Spain's rules for traditional tolerance — custom more than statute.

Researched 24 October 2026. No official source confirms naturist status, so treat it as unverified.
