About Playa El Charcón

El Charcón is a 325 m beach on the undeveloped north-west coast of Fuerteventura, in La Oliva municipality, between El Cotillo and Majanicho. The sand is white, scattered with stones both on the shore and in the water, and the beach is about 40 m deep. The water is usually calm, but it is a windy spot and is known for windsurfing. Spain's national tourism portal notes that nude bathers frequent the beach, and FEN lists it as a nude-tradition spot. Occupancy is low and there are no lifeguards or services.

Getting there

From El Cotillo, take the unpaved coastal tracks north along the shore towards Majanicho; the beach is reached by car or on foot along these tracks, and access is easy. The nearest paved road is the FV-10. Parking is informal beside the track. There is no shade or water, so bring supplies.

Legal context

Spanish law does not prohibit public nudity, and FEN notes that nudism is legal on any Spanish beach; this beach is on FEN's list of beaches with a traditional nude use. Spain's official tourism portal states that nudists frequent this beach (checked 2026).

Naturism at Playa El Charcón sits under Spain's rules for officially designated nude beaches — explicit protection inside the marked area.
