About Playa El Asparalló
L'Esparrelló (also spelled El Asparalló), near the Montíboli area just under 2 km south-west of the centre of La Vila Joiosa on the Costa Blanca, is a gravel and coarse-sand beach of roughly 200 m tucked beneath cliffs. It has two parts: a small cove at the entrance and a longer strip of shingle between the sea and the cliff face. Whether you can walk between them along the shore depends on what recent storms have done to the beach, which shifts sand and stones around; at other times you need a short but rough path. The water is clear and shows the full range of greens and blues typical of this coast. There are no lifeguards or showers. The regional tourism portal of the Comunitat Valenciana lists it as suitable for nudism, and La Vila Joiosa's town council kept the nudist tradition at L'Esparrelló when it amended its beach ordinance in 2017. The Spanish Naturist Federation also lists it.
Getting there
From La Vila Joiosa take the N-332 towards Alicante and follow the signs for the residential and hotel area of Montíboli. A road leads down near the beach, but parking space is scarce, so arrive early. Access to the sand is on foot only, and the path between the two sections can be steep. Not suitable for wheelchairs; dogs and caravans are not allowed.
