About Playa del Rafal

El Rafal is a beach on the undeveloped coast north of Águilas in Murcia, within the Cabo Cope and Puntas de Calnegre protected area. FEN gives it as about 300 m long and 15 m deep, of gravel and golden sand, with moderate surf, few people and no lifeguard or showers. Local press reports that Águilas town council designated it the municipality's nudist beach in 2016. At its northern end there are a couple of small coves that are even more secluded than the main beach. There are no facilities; the nearest bars and shops are in Calabardina.

Getting there

Access is along unpaved roads off the RM-D14/RM-D15 north of Calabardina and the Torre de Cope; drive carefully, as cars can get stuck in the soft sand near the shore. Park behind the beach. No public transport, no shade and no wheelchair access.

Legal context

Spain has no national law against public nudity. El Rafal is a FEN nudist-tradition beach, and local press reports a 2016 municipal designation as Águilas's nudist beach (not confirmed on an official page we read, 2026).

Naturism at Playa del Rafal sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.

Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.
