About Playa del Matorral
El Matorral is the long beach of fine golden sand that runs east from the resort of Morro Jable on the Jandía peninsula, in the south of Fuerteventura (Pájara municipality). The tall white Morro Jable lighthouse stands on the shore and divides it. South-west of the lighthouse, by the town and its seafront promenade, the beach is busy with families and has the usual resort services. North-east of the lighthouse the beach widens, the protected Saladar de Jandía salt marsh lies behind the dunes, bathers are spread thinly, and guides say nude bathing is accepted there. The water is generally calm and turquoise, and the sand continues for several kilometres towards Costa Calma, so finding space is rarely a problem. There is little shade beyond what you bring.
Getting there
Morro Jable is at the southern end of the FV-2, with a bus station served from Puerto del Rosario and the rest of the island. Park in town or near the lighthouse and walk north-east along the sand past the lighthouse to reach the quieter, nude-friendly stretch. The promenade end is flat and easy; the far side is soft sand with no facilities.
What visitors say
Visitors describe a long, wide and clean beach with calm water, busy near the Morro Jable promenade and much quieter past the lighthouse. Those looking for nude bathing head beyond the lighthouse, where nude and clothed people share the sand without trouble. Wind and the lack of shade on the far stretch are the main drawbacks.

Legal context
Public nudity is not an offence under Spanish national law. Nude bathing at El Matorral is customary on the stretch north-east of the lighthouse, not officially designated; keep clear of the protected salt marsh behind the beach (2026).
Naturism at Playa del Matorral sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
