About Playa del Juncal
El Juncal, also called Playa del Puertito, is a small cove on the rugged north-west coast of Gran Canaria in the municipality of Gáldar, below the GC-200 between Gáldar and Agaete. It is about 130 m long and made of rounded boulders and stones rather than sand, backed by steep volcanic slopes. The water is usually clear and the swell moderate, which makes it popular for snorkelling. There are no services, and the beach is mostly known to locals. The Spanish Naturist Federation lists it as a nudist-tradition beach, and naturists use the quieter corners away from the access point; some clothed bathers and fishermen also come, and the cove can get fairly busy on summer weekends. Guides mention that birds of prey, including rare falcons, can be seen on the cliffs.
Getting there
Reach the cove from the GC-200 road between Gáldar and Agaete; parking is informal at the roadside. From there the walk down is steep and uneven, so sturdy footwear is needed and it is not suitable for wheelchairs. Global bus line 103 (Las Palmas-Agaete) runs along the GC-200, but stops are some distance from the path.

Legal context
Spain has no law against nudity on beaches. El Juncal's nude use is customary, recognised by the Spanish Naturist Federation rather than by a municipal designation. No restrictions or enforcement were found (2026).
Naturism at Playa del Juncal sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
Full country law: Spain public nudity guide.
Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.
