About Playa del Guincho

El Guincho is a hidden cove on the south coast of La Gomera, in the municipality of San Sebastián de La Gomera, about 10 km from the island's capital. It is roughly 200 m long and 30 m deep, a mix of gravel and dark volcanic sand, framed by rocky slopes, with clear, usually calm turquoise water. With no road and no facilities, it is quiet and naturists use it regularly; the Canary Islands tourism board calls it a favourite with naturists. It is one of a chain of remote coves on this coast, near Playa del Medio, Chinguarime and Tapahuga, which have a long tradition of alternative and nude beach life.

Getting there

There is no road access. The official tourism board says the way in is by boat from the port of San Sebastián; experienced walkers may also reach it along the coast from neighbouring coves, but there is no marked path. There are no services at all, so carry water and shade. Not accessible for wheelchairs.

Legal context

Spain has no national law against public nudity. The Canary Islands tourism board describes El Guincho as a favourite with naturists, and FEN lists it as a nudist-tradition beach. No local restrictions (checked 2026).

Naturism at Playa del Guincho sits under Spain's rules for officially designated nude beaches — explicit protection inside the marked area.
