About Playa del Cañuelo
El Cañuelo is a secluded beach on the Tarifa coast of Cádiz, tucked just west of Punta Camarinal and the Camarinal lighthouse, beyond the far end of Bolonia bay. It is about 800 metres long, golden sand backed by low cliffs and scrub, with moderate surf. The Spanish Naturist Federation lists it as a beach of nudist tradition, and Lonely Planet describes it as quiet and nudist-friendly; one directory disagrees and lists it as non-nudist, so expect a mix. Its relative inaccessibility is what keeps it calm compared with Bolonia. The federation records lifeguard cover in season but no showers or other facilities. Nearby Bolonia has the Roman ruins of Baelo Claudia and a large dune, both worth combining with a visit.
Getting there
From the CA-8202 road to Bolonia, about 3 km west of Baelo Claudia, a dirt track of roughly 1.5 km runs down towards the Faro de Camarinal. From near the lighthouse you continue on foot across country, or link from the Camarinal-Bolonia footpath. The final stretch is rough and not suitable for wheelchairs. There is no public transport to the beach.
