About Playa del Barranco Ancho
Barranco Ancho is a small, wild cove on the undeveloped coast between Bolnuevo and Puntas de Calnegre in Mazarrón (Murcia), at the foot of the Sierra de las Moreras where the Rambla de Villalba reaches the sea. It is about 80 m long and 12 to 17 m wide, with medium sand and gravel and usually calm water. The Murcia regional tourism institute lists it as a nude beach in a natural setting, and local press counts it among the official nudist beaches strung along the 12 km coastal track from Bolnuevo, together with Cala Leño, Cala Desnuda and La Grúa. Because it is far from both Bolnuevo and Cañada de Gallego, it gets very few visitors. There are no services at all, so bring everything and take your rubbish home. The surrounding coast is popular with walkers and mountain bikers.
Getting there
Since July 2017 most of the coastal track west of Bolnuevo has been closed to motor vehicles, so the usual approach is on foot or by bike from the end of the road beside Playa del Rincón in Bolnuevo, where parking is limited. From the Cañada de Gallego or Puntas de Calnegre side, dirt tracks lead down through farmland towards the coast. The regional listing mentions a reserved parking area. Expect a long, hot walk; not suitable for wheelchairs.
Legal context
Public nudity is not an offence under Spanish national law, and the Murcia regional tourism institute lists Barranco Ancho as a nude beach. The 2017 vehicle restriction on the coastal track still shapes access (2026).
Naturism at Playa del Barranco Ancho sits under Spain's rules for officially designated nude beaches — explicit protection inside the marked area.
Full country law: Spain public nudity guide.
Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.
