About Playa de Torimbia
Torimbia is a curved bay near Niembru in the municipality of Llanes, on Asturias's eastern coast, enclosed by green cliffs more than 50 metres high. It is widely regarded as the first nudist beach in Asturias, used by naturists since the 1960s, and many Spanish naturists consider it the most beautiful nude beach in the country. The sand is fine and golden and the beach shelves gently, so the water is fairly calm for this coast. Private cars cannot drive down: the last part is on foot, which keeps it uncrowded. A spring rises at the eastern end, and a seasonal beach bar near the western entrance serves paella and Asturian food, where you can eat without clothes; booking ahead is wise in high season. The beach keeps some of its old hippie atmosphere. It has also appeared in films, including José Luis Garci's El abuelo. Today it is used by both nude and clothed visitors, with naturists in the majority.
Getting there
From Niembru, a narrow paved road climbs past Toranda towards Cabo Prieto, where there is a small car park (fewer than 50 spaces) that fills early on summer weekends. From there you walk down: either on the main track to the western end of the beach or by rougher paths down the slope to the eastern end. Remember the walk back is uphill. Not wheelchair accessible.
What visitors say
Visitors consistently describe Torimbia as spectacular, with the view from the top of the path a highlight in itself. The atmosphere is relaxed, with naturists the majority and clothed visitors also common. The main complaint is parking, which is very limited, especially at weekends. Tips: arrive early, bring water, and book the beach bar in high season.

Legal context
Public nudity is not an offence in Spain. Torimbia is a long-established nudist beach listed by the Spanish Naturist Federation, but it has no municipal naturist designation; Turismo Asturias notes that dogs are banned on the beach from 1 June to 30 September (2026).
Naturism at Playa de Torimbia sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.

Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.
