About Playa de Suárez
Playa de Suárez is a small, isolated beach on the coast of San Sebastián de La Gomera, the island capital's municipality on the east side of La Gomera. The Spanish Naturist Federation lists it as a beach of nudist tradition and describes it as about 200 metres long and 30 metres deep, made of rock rather than sand, with calm water and low occupancy. There is no lifeguard and no shower, and no development behind it. We found no other published description of the beach, so expect a rocky, undeveloped shore with nothing on site and plan to be self-sufficient. Other nude-friendly beaches in the same municipality, such as El Medio and Chinguarime near Playa Santiago, are better documented if you want a more certain trip. Note: the Spanish Naturist Federation is the only source we found that reports nude bathing here, and other guides do not mention it. Nude use may be occasional or limited to the quieter end, so expect most visitors to be clothed and check on arrival.
Getting there
We found no reliable published route to Playa de Suárez. FEN classes it as isolated, so expect to walk the last stretch over rough ground; check locally in San Sebastián before setting out. There are no facilities and no wheelchair access.
Legal context
Public nudity is not an offence in Spain, and the Spanish Naturist Federation (FEN) lists Playa de Suárez as a beach of nudist tradition. There is no municipal designation or signage that we could find (2026).
Naturism at Playa de Suárez sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
