About Playa de Sartaxens
Sartaxéns is a tiny beach on the south shore of the Ría de Pontevedra, in the parish of Santa María de Beluso in Bueu, on the Morrazo peninsula. It is only about 50 metres long and a few metres deep, a straight strip of fine white sand and rock enclosed by wooded slopes, and it sits within a Natura 2000 protected area. The provincial tourism board, Turismo Rías Baixas, describes it as an ideal beach for nude bathing, and the Spanish Naturist Federation also lists it. Its small size and awkward access keep occupancy low. Water quality is rated good, though the beach can catch a fair swell. There are no lifeguards, showers or other services, and space is very limited, so it suits people who want a quiet, secluded spot rather than a long day with facilities.
Getting there
Sartaxéns is reached on foot only, and directories rate the descent as difficult; plan for a short but steep path through the woods. The nearest road is the coastal route out of Bueu, and the closest bus stop is about 2 km away in Bueu; the nearest bus stations are in Cangas and Pontevedra. Parking is roadside only. Not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
