About Playa de Recaveira

Recaveira, also called Espiñeirido, is a wild, empty strand on the Atlantic coast of Porto do Son, on the Barbanza peninsula of A Coruña. It is about 1 km long and 35 m deep, with golden sand broken by rock outcrops, and it lies inside a Natura 2000 protected area with no buildings behind it. The whole beach is used by nude bathers, and its length makes it good for long walks without clothes. The sea is usually rough and the beach is often windy, so swimming needs care and there is no lifeguard. Even in summer few people come, which is a large part of its appeal.

Getting there

The beach lies just off the AC-550 coast road through Porto do Son municipality. Leave the car near the road and walk down on foot; the path is short and not difficult. There is no formal car park and there are no services, so bring water and shade.

Legal context

Spanish law does not prohibit public nudity, and FEN notes that nudism is legal on any Spanish beach; this beach is on FEN's list of beaches with a traditional nude use. No local restriction on nudity is known (2026).

Naturism at Playa de Recaveira sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
