About Playa de Nueva Umbría
Nueva Umbría is the seaward shore of the Flecha del Rompido, a narrow sand spit about 12 km long in Lepe (Huelva) that separates the Atlantic from the estuary of the Piedras river. The spit lies within the protected Marismas del Río Piedras y Flecha del Rompido natural area and has no buildings, roads or services along most of its length: just a wide strip of golden sand about 50 m deep, low dunes and the marshes behind. The Spanish Naturist Federation lists it as a nude beach with low occupancy, moderate waves and no lifeguards or showers. With so much empty sand, nude bathers simply spread out away from the access points, and the further you walk the fewer people you meet. There is no shade, so sun protection and water are essential.
Getting there
The western end of the spit is reached by road from the La Antilla / Islantilla side of Lepe, where there is parking at the start of the beach; from there you walk east along the sand as far as you like. In summer, passenger boats from El Rompido cross the river to the eastern part of the spit. There are no facilities once you leave the access area, and walking on soft sand is tiring.

Legal context
Public nudity is not an offence under Spanish national law, and FEN lists Nueva Umbría as a nude beach. The spit is a protected natural area, so dune and bird-nesting rules apply. No nudity ban is known (2026).
Naturism at Playa de Nueva Umbría sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.

Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.
