About Playa de los Hierros
Los Hierros is an isolated beach on the Lorca stretch of the Murcia coast, inside the Cabo Cope y Puntas de Calnegre regional park, in the area the regional tourism office calls Pinilla y Garrobillo. There is no development behind it, only the bare hills and farm tracks typical of this dry corner of the Costa Cálida. The Spanish Naturist Federation lists it as a beach of nudist tradition and gives it as roughly 380 metres long but narrow, about 18 metres deep, made of gravel mixed with dark sand. The sea is usually moderate. There is no lifeguard, no shower and no shade, and the federation rates occupancy as low, which is the main reason naturists use it. Because nude bathing here is a matter of custom rather than any marked zone, expect a mix of clothed and nude visitors and keep some distance from anyone clothed. Bring everything you need, including water and something to sit on that copes with gravel. Note: the Spanish Naturist Federation is the only source we found that reports nude bathing here, and other guides do not mention it. Nude use may be occasional or limited to the quieter end, so expect most visitors to be clothed and check on arrival.
Getting there
The beach lies about 2.5 km off the RM-D20 coastal road. The regional tourism office describes the final approach as an unpaved track to the coast followed by a natural footpath to the sand, with a small reserved parking area; InSpain reports fewer than 50 spaces and calls the walk easy. Sources disagree on how rough the track is, so a normal car may need to stop early. No public transport reaches the beach and it is not suitable for wheelchairs.
Amenities
Legal context
Public nudity is not an offence in Spain, and the Spanish Naturist Federation (FEN) lists Los Hierros as a beach of nudist tradition. There is no municipal naturist designation or signage, and other guides list it as an ordinary beach, so nude use is customary rather than designated (2026).
Naturism at Playa de los Hierros sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.

Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.

Frequently asked questions
Is Los Hierros an official nudist beach?
No. It is listed by the Spanish Naturist Federation as a beach of nudist tradition, but Lorca has not designated it, and some guides treat it as an ordinary beach.
How do I get there?
Leave the RM-D20 and follow the unpaved track towards the coast for about 2.5 km, then walk the last stretch on a footpath. Parking is small.
Are there any facilities?
No. There is no lifeguard, shower, bar or shade, so bring water and sun protection.
What is the beach surface like?
Gravel mixed with dark sand, so a thick mat or water shoes help.
