About Playa de las Monjas
Las Monjas is a tiny, secluded cove on the west coast of La Palma in the municipality of Los Llanos de Aridane, just south of the resort of Puerto Naos. It is only about 50 m long and a few metres deep, a strip of rounded stones and dark volcanic sand beneath low cliffs, in a protected landscape within the island's biosphere reserve. There are no services at all: no lifeguard, showers, toilets or kiosk. It is one of the few places on La Palma where nude bathing is customary and socially accepted, and the Spanish Naturist Federation lists it as a nudist-tradition beach; other guides also class it as nudist. The swell is usually moderate. The surrounding coast was affected by the 2021 Tajogaite eruption, which altered access around Puerto Naos for a time, so check current access before going.
Getting there
Reach Puerto Naos from Los Llanos de Aridane and continue south along the coast; the cove is a short, easy walk from the end of the road. Intercity buses run to the Puerto Naos area. Parking is informal. Access around Puerto Naos was restricted after the 2021 eruption, so confirm the road is open.
