About Playa de las Covaticas
Las Covaticas (also spelled Cobaticas) is a long, wild beach on the undeveloped coast west of Bolnuevo in Mazarrón (Murcia), near the hamlets of La Loma and Cañada de Gallego. Spain's national tourism site gives it nearly 2 km in length and about 40 m in width, with golden sand mixed with pebbles and boulders, moderate waves and low occupancy, and states that nudism is common here. Local guides describe a natural, unserviced shore of shingle and sand of about 1 km of usable beach. It is also one of the few beaches in Mazarrón where dogs are allowed, so nude bathers share it with dog walkers. There is no shade, bar or lifeguard. The beach belongs to the chain of quiet coves between Bolnuevo and Puntas de Calnegre that has long been used for nude bathing.
Getting there
Reach it from La Loma by a dirt track down to the shore; the official listing rates access on foot as easy and also lists car and boat access. The nearest main roads are the RM-3 and AP-7, and the Mazarrón marina is about 10 km away. Parking is informal along the track. There are no facilities, so bring water and shade.
Legal context
