About Playa de Las Arenas

Las Arenas is a secluded beach on the south-west coast of La Gomera in the municipality of Vallehermoso, south-east of Vueltas (Valle Gran Rey), beyond the Argaga ravine. It is about 300 m of dark sand under steep cliffs, with calm water, and lies within a protected rural park. Its isolation has long made it a nudist beach. There are no permanent services. It is a different place from Playa del Inglés, the better-known nude beach at the other end of Valle Gran Rey.

Getting there

Directories describe access as difficult on foot, with the nearest road at Valle Gran Rey. At least one guide reports that landslides have cut the coastal route, leaving a boat as the practical option. Check current conditions locally before setting out on foot. Bring water and supplies; there are no services and no adapted access.

Legal context

Spain has no national law against nudity in public. Las Arenas is listed by the Spanish Naturist Federation as a nudist-tradition beach; we found no ordinance. Landslides have affected the walking route.

Naturism at Playa de Las Arenas sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
