About Playa de las Alberquillas
Las Alberquillas is a cove of dark sand and gravel below the cliffs east of Maro, in Nerja (Málaga), within the protected Maro-Cerro Gordo cliffs natural area. It is roughly 400 m long and 20 m wide, backed by scrub and pines, with clear water that suits snorkelling and usually moderate waves. Beach directories describe it as a nude beach, and it belongs to the string of small, hard-to-reach coves on this coast, together with Cala del Pino and Cantarriján, that are known for nude bathing. It is quiet outside the peak of summer and has no lifeguard, bar or toilets. Directories disagree slightly on its length, with one giving 200 m.
Getting there
Park at the small, free, unguarded car park beside the N-340 above the cove (around 50 to 100 spaces). From there a steep footpath leads down to the beach; guides give 30 to 40 minutes on foot, and the climb back is hard work in the heat. The intercity Nerja–Motril bus stops about 1.5 km away. Not wheelchair accessible.
