About Playa de la Roja

La Roja, also spelt Oroja, is an isolated beach on La Gomera's south-east coast, at the bottom of a ravine about 8 km from the marina at San Sebastián de La Gomera. FEN describes it as roughly 500 m of rocks and stones, with calm water and few visitors. With no road down to it, it is used mainly by people who arrive by boat, and its isolation has made it a nudist spot; one island beach guide describes it as a naturist beach, although another directory does not. There are no lifeguards or services at all.

Getting there

Most visitors come by boat from San Sebastián de La Gomera, about 8 km away; guides say the beach is effectively reachable only by sea. There is no adapted access and no public transport. Bring all the food and water you need.

Legal context

Spain has no national law against nudity in public. La Roja is listed by the Spanish Naturist Federation as a nudist-tradition beach; we found no local ordinance.

Naturism at Playa de la Roja sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
