About Playa de la Rabia

Oyambre is one of the longest beaches in Cantabria, about 1.8 km of golden sand inside the Oyambre Natural Park, a few kilometres from both Comillas and San Vicente de la Barquera, in the municipality of Valdáliga. At its eastern end it meets the estuary of the Ría de la Rabia, and dunes separate the beach from the estuary. The setting is open and green, with meadows and the Picos de Europa visible inland on clear days. It is fairly isolated, but busy in summer, with surfers using the moderate Atlantic swell. Lifeguards and showers are available in season. FEN lists Oyambre as a beach of nudist tradition, and walkers report a nude section along the beach, away from the main access points. Most bathers near the car parks are clothed.

Getting there

Oyambre is signposted off the CA-131 between Comillas and San Vicente de la Barquera. There is parking behind the beach, and the walk onto the sand is short. To reach quieter stretches, walk along the shore from the access points. A popular easy coastal walk of about 7 km links the La Rabia area with Oyambre.

Legal context

Spain has no national law against nudity in public. Oyambre is listed by the Spanish Naturist Federation as a nudist-tradition beach, but other directories mark it as non-nudist, so nude use is informal and limited to quieter sections. The beach lies in a natural park and Natura 2000 site where dune protection rules apply.

Naturism at Playa de la Rabia sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
