About Playa de La Pelada
La Pelada is a small cove on the south coast of Tenerife in Granadilla de Abona, just east of the windsurfing town of El Médano, beneath the volcanic cone of Montaña Pelada. The beach sits in a breached crater, so it is ringed by layered, reddish and ochre volcanic rock. FEN gives it at about 80 m of light sand with moderate waves and wind and medium use. Because you have to walk and scramble a little to reach it, it is calmer than El Médano's main beaches, and part of the cove is used nude. Some guides say it is sheltered; visitors also mention wind, which is typical of this coast. There are no toilets, showers or other services.
Getting there
From the TF-1 motorway, take the TF-64 to El Médano and drive to the end of Avenida Juan Carlos I, where there is a small free car park next to a viewpoint (fewer than 50 spaces; arrive early on weekends and in summer). From there a coastal path between lava formations leads to the cove in about 5–10 minutes, ending with a short scramble over rocks. Intercity buses serve El Médano. There is no adapted access.
What visitors say
Visitors like La Pelada for its unusual crater setting and colourful rock, and for being much quieter than central El Médano. Reviews mention the short scramble down, the lack of facilities and, on some days, strong wind. Guides say a section of the cove is used by nudists.

Spain has no national law against nudity in public. La Pelada is used partly nude by custom and is listed by the Spanish Naturist Federation; we found no local ordinance. The surrounding Montaña Pelada area is a protected natural space.
Naturism at Playa de La Pelada sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
