About Playa de Gulpiyuri
Gulpiyuri is a tiny inland beach in a meadow near the village of Naves, in Llanes (Asturias), a protected natural monument. It sits about 100 m back from the cliffs: the sea reaches it through a hidden tunnel in the rock, so a small crescent of sand and salt water, around 50 m across, appears in a grassy hollow with no sea in sight. The water level rises and falls with the tide, and at low tide there is little more than a pool. The Spanish Naturist Federation's page for neighbouring San Antolín, Llanes' longest beach and itself used by naturists at its far end, recommends walking on to Gulpiyuri and notes that it can also be enjoyed nude. Gulpiyuri is famous as a curiosity and attracts many sightseers in summer, so it is rarely secluded; nude bathing is most realistic outside peak hours and with discretion. There are no services.
Getting there
Gulpiyuri is reached on foot from the Naves area, a short walk of roughly 10 to 15 minutes over fields on a clear path; there is limited parking near the trailhead. FEN suggests walking along the coast from the far end of San Antolín beach towards Naves, a path it describes as good and not long. The final approach is over grass and is not wheelchair accessible. Visit around high tide to find water in the beach.
