About Playa de El Medano

Playa del Médano is part of the Grandes Playas, the long run of beaches in the Parque Natural de las Dunas de Corralejo in La Oliva, Fuerteventura. It is a broad strip of golden sand (FEN gives about 700 m by 60 m), backed by the white Corralejo dunes, with views across to Lobos and Lanzarote. Waves are moderate and the wind is a near-constant feature, which makes the area popular with windsurfers and kitesurfers. Nudism is practised here and along the neighbouring beaches, and you will see stone windbreaks dotted along the sand. FEN reports a lifeguard and low occupancy, though the closer you are to Corralejo, the busier and more mixed it gets. There are no buildings on the beach itself.

Getting there

El Médano sits just off the FV-1 south of Corralejo, about 7 km from the marina. You park along the road or in the sandy lay-bys and walk a short distance over the dunes. Buses between Corralejo and Puerto del Rosario stop along the FV-1. The walk is easy but on soft sand, with no adapted access.

Legal context

Spain has no national law against nudity in public. El Médano lies in a protected natural park and is used nude by custom; FEN lists it as a nudist-tradition beach and Spain.info notes that nudism is practised here.

Naturism at Playa de El Medano sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
