About Playa de El Dormidero
El Dormidero is one of the beaches along the Grandes Playas inside the Parque Natural de las Dunas de Corralejo in La Oliva, on the north-east of Fuerteventura. It sits between the main FV-1 road and the sea, north of the so-called Glass Beach, with the white Corralejo dunes behind it and Lobos and Lanzarote across the strait. FEN gives it as 440 m long and about 30 m wide, with golden sand, moderate waves and frequent wind. There are no hotels along this stretch, and nudity is normal here, as on the neighbouring beaches of El Moro and El Burro. Rows of low stone windbreaks are a common sight on these beaches. Spain.info lists sunbed and umbrella rental and regular cleaning, but otherwise there are no services. It is usually quiet.
Getting there
El Dormidero lies just off the FV-1 between Corralejo and Puerto del Rosario, about 9 km south of Corralejo harbour. Parking is along the roadside and is shared with El Moro beach, so it fills in high season after midday. The walk from the road over the sand is short and easy. Buses between Corralejo and Puerto del Rosario (lines 6 and 7) run along the FV-1. There is no adapted access across the dunes.
What visitors say
Visitors describe El Dormidero as relaxed and uncrowded, with nudity common and unremarkable. They praise the dune scenery and views of Lobos. Wind is the usual complaint, and many people build or use stone windbreaks. Parking can be tight when shared with El Moro.
