About Playa De Chinguarime

Chinguarime is a remote beach on the south-east coast of La Gomera, at the mouth of a deep ravine east of Playa Santiago. It is part of a string of three isolated beaches with Tapahuga and El Medio, which guidebooks describe together as a long-standing nudist area. FEN lists it as about 800 m long and 30 m wide, made of dark gravel and volcanic sand, with calm water and few visitors. There are no buildings or services, and the barren cliffs and ravine walls make the setting feel cut off from the rest of the island. Sources disagree about how nude it is: some describe it as frequented by nudists, while at least one beach directory marks it as non-nudist. Expect a quiet, mixed beach where nudity is common and accepted.

Getting there

There is no road down to the sand. Guides say the beach is reached by boat or on foot along a rough path from the Playa Santiago side via the neighbouring beaches of Tapahuga and El Medio. Spain.info says boat only and puts the nearest port, San Sebastián, about 14 km away. The path is stony and unshaded, so wear proper shoes and carry water. There are no services or adapted access.

What visitors say

The few accounts available describe Chinguarime as quiet and rarely visited, largely because it is hard to reach. Lonely Planet groups it with Tapahuga and El Medio as a nudist spot. Most visitors walk from Playa Santiago and stress bringing water and shade.

Legal context

Spain has no national law against nudity in public. Chinguarime is listed by the Spanish Naturist Federation as a nudist-tradition beach, and we found no local ordinance or reported conflict.

Naturism at Playa De Chinguarime sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
