About Playa de Burumendi

Burumendi, also called Hirugarren hondartza ('third beach'), is a small cove of about 80 m between Mutriku's town beach and Punta Kardala, on the Gipuzkoa coast. It is part of the series of small beaches below the flysch cliffs of the Basque Coast Geopark. The beach mixes boulders, rock, gravel and some sand. Strong waves, wind and currents are common, so swimming needs care, and there is no lifeguard. Nude bathing is customary here, at least on part of the beach. Facilities are limited to bins and, according to one guide, an occasional drinks stall.

Getting there

Walk from Mutriku town along the coast past the town beach; the final descent is by steps, signposted from the village. Parking is limited, at the harbour and in the town centre. The nearest interurban bus stop (Lurraldebus) is about 1.4 km away.
