About Playa de Bascuas
Bascuas is a small cove of white sand near the village of Aios in the municipality of Sanxenxo, on the north shore of the Pontevedra estuary in the Rías Baixas. It is around 100 m long, sheltered from the wind by a hill that also isolates it from the surrounding area, and it looks out to the islands of Ons and Onza in the Atlantic Islands National Park. It is one of Galicia's most traditional nude beaches: nude bathers often make up nearly everyone on the sand, and visitors are expected to respect that. Unusually for a nude beach it is well looked after, with signage, a Blue Flag, lifeguards, toilets, free parking and a beach bar where naturists can eat without clothes; a natural spring-fed shower runs off the rocks at the right-hand end. The water is clear and cold. It gets busy on summer days. The hill behind is popular for nude walks with good views.
Getting there
From Sanxenxo, follow the coast road west towards Portonovo and A Lanzada and turn off for Aios and Bascuas; the beach is about 10 minutes by car from A Lanzada. A large free car park sits above the beach, with a short path down. The beach is also reachable by boat.
What visitors say
Reviewers describe Bascuas as a well-kept, friendly nude beach with good facilities and a respectful atmosphere. The most common complaint is the cold water, and it can be crowded in peak season. The sheltered setting and views of Ons are widely praised.
