About Playa de Alkolea
Alkolea, also called the Ensenada de Arbe, is an isolated beach in Mutriku (Gipuzkoa) on the coast between Deba and Mutriku. It is around 900 metres long and 50 metres wide, made of rounded stones and dark sand, and faces the open Bay of Biscay, so waves and wind are usually strong; local tourism describes it as a pebble cove with good surf for experienced surfers. The Spanish Naturist Federation lists it as a nudist-tradition beach, and other directories describe it as partly or wholly nudist with low occupancy. There are no listed facilities on the beach. Nude bathers spread out along the quieter stretches away from the access paths. Nearby, the Saturraran beach on the Mutriku–Ondarroa border also has a naturist section.
Getting there
Take the GI-638 coast road between Deba and Mutriku and follow any of the footpaths down towards the shore. There is an unguarded parking area of roughly 50 spaces. The nearest bus stops are 1.5 to 2 km away in Mutriku. Paths are unpaved and the beach is stony, so it is not suitable for wheelchairs.
