About Playa de Aitzuri
Aitzuri is a long, wild beach on the flysch coast of Gipuzkoa, listed by the Spanish Naturist Federation under Zumaia, on the stretch towards Deba within the Basque Coast Geopark. FEN describes it as isolated, about 1.6 km long and 35 metres wide, made of boulders and rock shelves rather than sand, with strong waves and frequent wind, and low occupancy. The tilted layers of rock that make this coast famous run down into the sea here, and much of the shore is a wave-cut platform exposed at low tide. FEN lists it as a nudist-tradition beach; with no services, few visitors and a rough shoreline, it suits experienced walkers rather than beachgoers. Tides and swell change conditions quickly, and the cliffs above should be treated with caution. Note: the Spanish Naturist Federation is the only source we found that reports nude bathing here, and other guides do not mention it. Nude use may be occasional or limited to the quieter end, so expect most visitors to be clothed and check on arrival.
Getting there
Access details are not well documented. The beach is reached on foot from the clifftop countryside between Zumaia and Deba; expect steep, uneven paths and rocky ground. Check tide times before going down. There are no facilities.
Legal context
