About Playa de Aguilera
Aguilera (Agüilera, also called Aguilar) is a secluded beach in Gozón on the central coast of Asturias, near San Martín de Podes on the road from Avilés to Cabo Peñas, just before Verdicio. It is about 380-400 metres of fine golden sand, open to the Atlantic, with strong surf, and faces the offshore islets of La Peña Prieta and La Bermea. The Spanish Naturist Federation lists it as a nudist beach and notes that it was fashionable years ago but now sees few visitors, because access is hard, unsignposted and lacks parking. A regional guide describes it as a hidden cove where naturism is habitually practised. There are no toilets or showers. Its isolation and the 360-degree views from the headland are its main attractions; the waves make swimming demanding.
Getting there
Leave the Avilés-Cabo Peñas road at the turning just before Verdicio, pass San Martín de Podes and follow the narrow road towards the sea near the hamlet of Molín del Puerto. There is nowhere proper to park, so leave the car considerately. The final path down is unsignposted and fairly steep. Not wheelchair accessible.
Legal context
Public nudity is not an offence in Spain, and the Spanish Naturist Federation (FEN) lists Aguilera as a nudist beach. There is no municipal designation or signage (2026).
Naturism at Playa de Aguilera sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
Full country law: Spain public nudity guide.
Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.
