About Playa Amarilla

Playa Amarilla is a small, wild beach on the undeveloped coast west of Bolnuevo in Mazarrón (Murcia), on the stretch running towards Puntas de Calnegre. Its name, 'yellow beach', comes from the colour of the rock in the cliff behind it. It is a narrow strip, roughly 110 to 200 metres long and about 12 metres wide, made mostly of rounded pebbles with little sand, and posidonia seagrass washes up on the shore. Waves are usually moderate. The Spanish Naturist Federation lists it as a nudist-tradition beach, and local guides describe it as a nude beach. It is one of a chain of coves along this coast used for nude bathing, including La Grúa, Cala Leño, Cala Desnuda and Barranco Ancho, and a coastal track linking them is popular with walkers and mountain bikers. There are no services of any kind, no shade and no lifeguards, so carry water, food and a sunshade. Mazarrón's long naturist reputation also rests on nearby Cueva de Lobos in Bolnuevo.

Getting there

Since July 2017 most of the coastal track west of Bolnuevo has been closed to motor vehicles, so the beach is reached on foot or by bike from Bolnuevo along the dirt track. Allow for a walk of some length in the heat and bring plenty of water. There is parking in Bolnuevo. The pebbly shore and unpaved track make it unsuitable for wheelchairs.

Legal context

Nudity is not prohibited on Spanish beaches; FEN lists Playa Amarilla as a nudist-tradition beach and local media call it a nudist beach. No official designation document was found (2026). Motor vehicles are banned from most of the access track.

Naturism at Playa Amarilla sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.

Naturist status confirmed against an official source on 24 October 2026.
