About Platja es Caló
Es Caló de Sant Agustí is a small cove on the north coast of Formentera, at the point where the island narrows before rising to La Mola. It is a traditional fishermen's inlet, with wooden boat slipways and huts cut into the low rocks, and a few restaurants close by. The beach itself is short, about 100 m long and 30 m deep according to the Spanish Naturist Federation, with pale sand mixed with clay and rocky edges, and the water is clear with moderate swell. FEN lists it among Formentera's beaches with a tradition of nude bathing and describes it as semi-urban and busy in season. There is no lifeguard and no shower. Because the cove is small and sits beside a working harbour and roadside restaurants, expect a mixed, mostly clothed crowd, with nude bathing more likely on the rocks and quieter stretches of the coast either side.
Getting there
Es Caló is on the island's main road (PM-820) between Sant Ferran and La Mola, roughly 13 km from the La Savina ferry port. There is roadside parking near the cove and the restaurants, and the island bus between La Savina and La Mola runs along the main road. The beach is a short walk down from the road; the rocky edges are uneven.
