About Platja el Dosel

El Dosel is a long Blue Flag beach on the northern side of Cullera, inside the Albufera Natural Park south of Valencia city. It runs for about 2 km at the foot of the Cullera mountain, the only peak on the Valencia province coastline, and is part of an almost continuous 30 km strip of sand stretching north to the mouth of the Turia. The beach is backed by one of the best-preserved dune belts on the Valencian coast, and the contrast between stretches that keep their original marsh vegetation and those that have been built on is striking. Reedbeds surround the Sant Llorenç lagoon at the base of the mountain. The sand is golden, waves moderate, and occupancy medium. The Spanish Naturist Federation lists El Dosel as a nudist-tradition beach; Valencian regional tourism names the adjoining Mareny de Sant Llorenç beach, immediately north, as Cullera's only authorised nude area, so nude bathers tend to drift towards that northern end. There are lifeguards and showers in season.

Getting there

From Cullera, drive or walk north past the Cullera lighthouse (Far de Cullera) along the coast; FEN suggests walking north from the lighthouse. Parking is along the roads behind the beach. The CV-502 is the nearest main road. Cullera has a Cercanías railway station (line C2 from Valencia), a few kilometres from the beach. Access to the sand is over flat dune paths.

Legal context

FEN lists El Dosel as a nudist-tradition beach, but the Comunitat Valenciana and Spain.info identify the adjoining Mareny de Sant Llorenç (to the north) as Cullera's only authorised nudist area (2026). Nudity is not a criminal offence on Spanish beaches.

Naturism at Platja el Dosel sits under Spain's rules for de facto tolerance — usually left alone if you keep it non-sexual and low-drama.
