About Platja des Peregons Grans
Es Peregons Grans (also written Es Pregons Grans) is an undeveloped beach on the south coast of Mallorca, in Campos municipality, between Colònia de Sant Jordi and the Es Trenc dune system. It has fine white sand, very clear turquoise water that stays shallow for a long way out, and a backdrop of dunes and pine wood, with views south to the Cabrera archipelago. Its smaller neighbour, Es Peregons Petits, is a 200 m cove listed by the Spanish Naturist Federation as a nude beach; the official Balearic tourism site describes Peregons Grans itself as a recommended nudist beach, and local guides say nude bathing is usual along part of the shore rather than all of it. There are no services of any kind. Banks of posidonia seagrass sometimes wash in and can make getting into the water awkward, and one reader report in the local press warns of a current in the bay. The beach is generally quieter than the busier coves nearer the town.
Getting there
Park in Colònia de Sant Jordi and walk about 2 km along the coast towards Es Trenc, roughly 15 to 30 minutes on easy, flat paths. Alternatively, use the paid Es Trenc car parks and walk about 30 minutes east along the shore. Boat trips from the port of Colònia de Sant Jordi also pass the beach. There are no facilities, so bring water, food and shade; reef shoes help on the rocky stretches. Not wheelchair accessible.
What visitors say
Visitors describe a calm, uncrowded beach with very clear, shallow water and fine sand, and many rate it among the nicer quiet spots near Colònia de Sant Jordi. Nude and clothed bathers mix, with nudity more common on part of the beach. Common complaints are the seagrass that sometimes piles up on the shore and the lack of any shade or services; the usual tips are to bring water and a parasol, and to go early in high season.
