About Platja del Serrallo
Platja del Serrallo, also called La Platjola, is a long, open beach on the southern side of the Ebro Delta in Sant Jaume d'Enveja, within the Ebro Delta Natural Park. It is broad and remote: FEN gives about 5 km by 200 metres, the regional tourism board about 3.1 km by 110 metres. The sand is golden and shelves gently into the sea, and behind the beach lies a flat landscape of rice fields and lagoons. The Terres de l'Ebre tourism board calls it the most deserted, unspoilt beach in the area and one of the few places on the Catalan coast where naturism takes place in wide open space rather than a hidden cove. Nudity also occurs on the neighbouring Migjorn beach, which connects to Serrallo by a pleasant walk along the shore. There are no services apart from parking and showers; no lifeguards, bars or shade. Occupancy is low even in summer, and there are no bins in the park, so take rubbish home.
Getting there
Drive into the delta via the T-340 towards Sant Jaume d'Enveja and the Els Eucaliptus estate, then continue along the coast to Migjorn beach and walk south to El Serrallo, or follow tracks to the beach parking. There is no public transport to the beach. The terrain is flat sand; walking along the shore is easy, though distances are long.
