About Platja del Riu de la Sénia
The Riu de la Sénia beach is the northernmost beach in Castellón province, at the mouth of the river Sénia where the Valencian Community meets Catalonia, in the municipality of Vinaròs. Vinaròs tourism presents it as the town's nudist beach. It is a short, narrow strip, around 100 to 150 metres long and only about 10 metres deep, made of small pebbles and gravel rather than sand, which keeps visitor numbers low. Waves are usually moderate, and the rocks at either side are good for snorkelling and watching fish. The beach lies within the natural area around the river mouth, isolated from the rest of the built-up coast, and has no services or equipment at all, so it attracts people looking for quiet. Note that the cove of Sòl de Riu on the Catalan side of the river (Les Cases d'Alcanar) is a separate beach.
Getting there
Drive north from Vinaròs along the coast road towards the Catalan border and the Sòl de Riu area; parking is informal along the road and tracks near the river mouth, with a short walk to the shore. There is no public transport to the beach itself. The pebble surface makes it unsuitable for wheelchairs; water shoes are useful.
